Permitted Firework Hours

You can let fireworks off any time of the year and any day of the week including Sundays.

You must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except for:

  • Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight
  • New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am

You must not set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places.

  • Read it before you light it

    Always follow the safety instructions. This avoids injury to yourself and others.

    Check for the UKCA or CE mark.

  • Set up a safe area and keep a safe distance

    Choose a clear, open area away from buildings, trees, and any flammable materials.

    Ensure that the ground is flat and stable to prevent fireworks from tipping over.

  • Never relight a dud firework

    If a firework doesn't go off, never attempt to relight it. Soak the firework thoroughly before disposing of safely.

  • Dispose of fireworks safely

    Keep a bucket of water nearby, ensure they are out, soak, bag and bin.

  • Follow Local Laws and Regulations

    Be aware of and comply with local firework laws and regulations.

    Do not use fireworks in restricted areas.

  • Using fireworks at home?

    Let your neighbours know in advance.

    Storage - Keep them locked away from children and animals. Keep
    fireworks dry and away from
    sources of heat or ignition.
